The Examination Standard
Rigor Is the Credential.
How NSFT assesses competence, and why every credential must be earned.
NSFT is a private professional education organization, not a government or statutory body. NSFT certifications are not government-issued licenses.
Certification does not guarantee employment, income, or acceptance by any employer, insurer or jurisdiction.
Philosophy of Assessment
An NSFT credential is intended to signal demonstrated competence to clients, employers and the profession. Assessment therefore focuses on applied decision-making in realistic scenarios rather than the recall of isolated facts.
Not every candidate will pass on the first attempt. That is by design.
The 80% Passing Standard
A minimum score of 80% is required on every final examination, across every certification. The standard is applied uniformly and is not adjusted to achieve a particular outcome.
Examination Components
- Timed, closed-book final examinations of scenario-based questions drawn from a secured item bank.
- Applied case assessments in which client screening, program design and progression decisions are evaluated against a published rubric (NSFT-CPT and NSFT-EPT).
Timed, Closed-Book Finals
Scenario-based questions drawn from a secured item bank, completed under timed conditions.
Applied Case Assessments
Client screening, program design and progression decisions evaluated against a published rubric.
Evidence-Based Curriculum
Content grounded in current exercise science and referenced to peer-reviewed research.
Earned, Never Purchased
Enrollment grants access to study. Only a passing examination grants the credential.
Item Bank Security & Integrity
Examination items are drawn from a secured bank, rotated between sittings and reviewed for currency against the evidence base. Items are confidential, and reproducing or sharing them is a breach of the Code of Conduct.
Examination Conduct & Identity Checks
Candidates confirm their identity before each sitting and complete examinations under the published conditions. Any irregularity may lead to the result being withheld pending review.
Results, Re-sits & Appeals
Results are issued after scoring and review. Candidates who do not reach the standard may re-sit under the re-examination policy published at enrollment. A candidate may request a review of a result through the published appeals process.
Credential Issuance
Enrollment grants access to study. Only a passing examination grants the credential. Earned, never purchased: a credential is issued only once the full assessment requirements have been met, and is then recorded in the public Candidate Registry.
Recertification & Validity
NSFT credentials are valid for 2 years from the date of issue. Recertification requirements are published to credential holders ahead of expiry, and the registry shows whether a credential is active, expired or revoked.
